It's that time of the year again. . .if you're stuck for idea's, here's the beginning of my Holiday gift guide to spark some inspiration, I leave it up to me and my trusty mouse to do all my shopping online, whilst sipping some green tea, I know a cup of hot chocolate would sound better but I can never find me a good brand lately, either too sickly sweet or bitter. If you don't fancy the color black, I hope to add a few more gift guides this coming week.
Embellished Beanies : Autumn Winter Headwear
21 Nov 2013
My little noggin gets cold during the nippy season of autumn and winter and sometimes casual beanies just don't cut the muster when I make an attempt to sharpen up my attire. If I could have it my way, I could quite possibly stick with wearing cosy beanies and quilted jogging pants all throughout winter, but I need to snap out of cursing the cold and dressing nonchalantly.
Heck Yeah! to the embellished gem beanies for creating a chic as well as casual guise to an outfit, I happily wear mine with smart or casual attire. It also had occurred to me that I can now utilize unused brooches to accessorize a plain beanie, or I could even raid my mother's old brooches to create a timeless vintage look to a beanie much like the cameo beanie.
I've avoided buying the Silver Spoon cameo beanie since last year as a good old D.I.Y would prove to be more cost savvy. There are some pretty nifty embellished beanie D.I.Y's on the blogosphere if you are looking for ideas. I'm just happy as Larry that my beanies keep me warm like a Canada goose jacket when bitter chills of winter bite on those cold unfriendly nights.

"We were really inspired by the fact that water is alive and it has a heartbeat. I feel like when you walk in the room and you see this, you realise that. One of our biggest messages was also this idea of protecting our oceans and to stop over-fishing. Obviously we work and create fashion but I think that fashion and social issues can exist together. How do we live in harmony with the ocean?" - Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, co-creative directors.

"It's the end of spring. It's 5am, you're in Tokyo and you're awake for three hours. It's daylight. You are at the Aoyama Cemetery. Dozens of birds singing around you. The city seems far away. You look at the Mori Tower which overlooks you." - Ophelia Klere and Francois Alary

Autumnal Art
Along with the fast approaching autumn comes a wealth of vibrant colours and textures for the eager interior designer. Deep reds and burnt oranges have long been a staple of the creative pallet but there are plenty of other innovative ways to bring those rich tones, earthy smells and crackling textures into the home.
DIY enthusiasts will be out combing the forest floors for sweet smelling pine cones and feathered ferns that can lend an air of autumn to any home. In fact, with such a wealth of ready-made mediums, including the fruits of the harvest, you can really let your imagination fly and create wreathes and bouquets from maple leaves. With their vivid and varied colours they make a wonderful addition to collages and other pictures or simply left on a branch and placed in a medicine jar for a skeletal bouquet.
Pumpkins and other squashes can be dried and used, if not for Halloween, then a candle or incense holder bringing a sweet fragrance to your autumnal apartment can also do the trick. Colourful berries, acorns and other seeds should be used to create wreaths or garlands to adorn your mantles.
Perfect Prints
I've been looking forward to complimenting some seasonal discoveries with a few carefully selected art prints to bring coherence to the theme. Autumnal landscapes are an obvious choice but, as long as you stay faithful to your natural colour scheme, you are free to express yourself with whichever image takes your fancy.
To bring a little glamour and romance to your décor you could mix it up with luxurious golds, silvers, browns and yellows of Gustav Klimt or, for a more abstract and artistic feel go with the muted browns and pastel greens of a classic Picasso. For a more graphical and seasonally inspired look try Japanese printmaker Katsushika Hokusai and for those looking to capture a little more passion, then hang a piece of Parisian urban mythology with Robert Doisneau's Kiss.
Whatever style of print you go for be sure to aim for a large piece that compliments your autumnal creations and brings a sense of the season into your home. I usually Head over to Posterlounge where you'll find all of the images you'll need to create the perfect home interior this autumn.

Styles of the Season
Autumn is a beautiful time of year and after a long summer (or short depending on which part of the world you call home) it can be nice to dust off the overcoats and scarves and welcome those deep reds and browns so synonymous with autumn fashion.
Of course, each year has its unique additions and this season's looks set to become the champion of the oversize bag and coat with a little bit of tartan for a splash of colour. Fake fur and leather jackets will also be donned alongside a military presence signalling 2013's ubiquitous unisex androgynous look.
All of these styles and more can be found at London Fashion Week AW13 which brings you the very best in style from the British Capital. Be sure to take a look at the turtle necks and capes which made a big hit on the catwalk and are a welcome addition to any winter wardrobe.
Timeless in Tartan
Of course, the changing fashions are often a little fickle so it is always worth keeping a timeless timepiece at hand to enhance this season's look with a staple-piece that has a touch of chic and elegance. There is no better way to do this than with a vintage Cartier or Harry Winston watch that brings that tartan skirt to life. Those looking for something a little less feminine might try a Girard Perregaux or Rolex Cellini to really complement those military boots so good at keeping out the rain.
Whichever watch you decide upon, you can spend a little "quality time” searching through the beautiful range of Omega, Rolex, and Cartier watches here. Ensure your style retains that element of timelessness by complimenting it with a unique piece of jewellery designed to enhance any women’s beauty.
