Graduate Fashion Week 2012

22 Jun 2012

Uni classes came and went, with all the toils and spoils, congratulations! are now due to all the graduates and furthermore to the crème de la crème at 2012’s Graduate Fashion Gala Show. Have a little look... at the young, exciting and the creative.
XIAOPING HUANG

Particularly feeling the use of eye-wear complimenting the exuberant three-dimensional accordion pleats, they sort of remind me of a jack-in-the-box. Actually haven't seen a jack-in-the-box in yonks! okay back on topic. Xiaoping Huang was handed the Zandra Rhodes Catwalk Textiles Award, for her creative planetary pleats.

CLAIRE ACTON
My general favourite collection included this one, how clever are these hair fringes framing the printed pop art like giant faces. The rad hair theme works really well and LOVE the giant perspex hair clip necklace and the mini hair clips, certainly a statement accessory. I so want this!

YVONNE KWOK

My eyes drew straight to this pastel palette collection and for the corseted ruffle silhouette crop jackets. The lightweight floaty structured pieces with opulent details, looks delightful feminine and quirky.

AMELIA SMITH

Russian dolls in all it's monochrome and gold glory, marched there way donning fur cossack hats with prints depicting the red square architecture, exuding a ceaseless charm, thus creating the ultra metallic matryoshka decadence. It comes by no thunderbolt that this collection was deservedly nominated for the Zandra Rhodes textile award.

CHARLI COHEN
These headpieces really stand out with the yellow accents of colour and bold CC logos, generating a Sport Lux sportswear line for women. Inspired by Olympics weight training, Charli Cohen harmonises her time between being a personal trainer as well as a sportswear designer, becoming the best motivator for a little workout or sports, in high-fashion functional exercise garments.

And so, class of 2012 bravo! you have begun to blaze your own trails. The world is waiting for you!

Snapshots No. 10 Grass is always greener

21 Jun 2012

I like the feeling of bare feet on freshly mowed grass, provided that it's clean enough! Fresh lush cut grass smells nostalgic like a sunny weekend, it defines tennis at Wimbledon or the idyllic childhood. So I guess why not have that feeling anywhere and anytime!?

{Runway} Prada AW 12

20 Jun 2012

okay I had this post sitting in my draft folder for weeks ! I had forgot to post this. Perfect for the non-productive day I'm having and by mere coincidence Prada's brand new fall campaign is here showing the geometric printed suit's in all its glory. I'm particularly digging the dip dye hair against the flared crop pants and rubber footwear

Featuring model beauties Iselin Steiro, Elza Luijendijk, Vanessa Axente and Madison Headrick

Music Monday: Euro 2012 Playlist

18 Jun 2012

Euro 96 was my earliest football memory, World Cup 98 was my first momentous world cup and from then on truly, I was hooked. I super embraced it, the national teams..players..anthems, the joyous atmosphere the anticipation that only occurs during the tournament itself. I always create a music playlist for every tournament to gear me up for the games, this playlist for Euro 2012 is a mix of the nostalgic songs that remind me of all things football.

U.K Online Fashion Shops

12 Jun 2012

It's been long overdue since I last updated a list of E shops, this instalment of Link Love is staying right here in the U.K  - Why? because all four web-shops are based in the U.K. I'm always on the look see for new and undiscovered on-line stores, sometimes it's preferable if the stores are U.K based saving me mintage on the delivery costs.

YAYER

The name of the store is Yayer for hells yes! for it's eclectic mix of vintage and modern pieces. There items sell out extremely quick, they currently have free shipping until midnight. I'd make the most of it!
Rock N Rose a British vintage inspired jewellery brand. Pretty impressed with the design and quality of their product, they usually keep up to date with the latest edgy styles.

Rock ‘N Rose was officially established in the North East in 2007. Today, the girls spend their time visiting vintage shops and working out of their Yarm studio - where they design, source and rework by hand with a small team of amazing girls.

JUNK&DISORDERLY

An independent big cartel store ran by Josie, providing rad hand finished friendship bracelets, from frenemies spiked bracelet to a friend crush embellished bracelet. Proving that friendship bracelets aren't just for kids any-more.

Labels stocked at this Brit boutique come from all across the globe, including Mawi, Leviticus, Erin Wasson and Bjorg to name but a few, also featuring an original and unusual selection of young and established designers and designs from the UK.

Queens Jubilee : Street Art Banksy

31 May 2012

Summer 2012 emerges to be a chock - full festive season with the Olympics kicking off on 27th July, Euro 2012 8th June and The Queen’s Jubilee this coming weekend.  In case some of you have been in hiding :) , this weekend is the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and marks the Queen’s 60th year on the throne, I'm not a royalist but I guess it's not often we get a 4 day weekend to kick back, so have a long glorious weekend folks.

Banksy piece has been spotted on the outer wall of a Poundland near the Turnpike Lane Tube station with bunting in tow inspired by the Queen's upcoming Diamond Jubilee and notably shed's light on child labour issues. Why Poundland? Well over the past few years, the company has been at the centre of controversy after it was revealed that a seven-year-old boy was working 100 hour weeks to produce their goods. The company have since severed ties with the supplier in question.

I like how the piece is made 3D and lifted with the use of the fabric flag bunting, but more-so for the statement this street art brings.
