The FOUR's Mondaine Collection FW 12/13

4 Dec 2012

You could say 'Three' is the magic number for the Hungarian trio Anett Gálvölgyi, Anna Zsófia Kormos and Márton Miovác who are the young designers behind the relatively new brand The FOUR. These two young women and young man, joined forces whilst attending the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest, and I'm glad they did! whilst peering over their enticing well styled look-book.

the FOUR new collection, Mondaine, incorporates the idea of travel and globalism, cosmopolitan, reconstructed identity
Photography – Balázs Máté
Styling – Andi Gönczy
Make-up – Ágnes Horváth
Hair – Márton Miovác  Models – Julia at VM, Adrienn at FACE

The rich thick fabrics with rich patterns and embroideries seem to be inspired by African and Asian textiles. If I could, I would snap up every outerwear from this collection, a 100 x times faster than the above travelling escalator.
I will see you later escalator ...

GROUND ZERO | FALL WINTER 2012-2013

9 Jul 2012

GROUND-ZERO was established in 2003 by the young and talented brothers acting like a duo : Eri and Philip Chu. Each collection is like a new experiment to which no rules apply. Like a physicist GROUND-ZERO believes that each and every garment represents a mix of elements. The unique graphic print has become a signature. Merging creativity with craftsmanship, each of the two brothers is combining his fortes to give a strong direction to GROUND-ZERO. “Zero could be everything” – GROUND-ZERO will not limit itself to being just a fashion brand. It can be diverged into anything, from graphic arts, music, video, art installation and more. The possibilities of GROUND-ZERO are endless.

Up until now I've been oblivious of the Chu brothers, Eri and Philip. This FW 12/13 collection looks rad and fresh with creative graphics prints and studs to exhibit expression and statements. These brothers don't seem afraid to challenge the norms, just how I like it! I dig the whimsical illustrations on the images they blend celestially together providing the attitude and concept behind these garments.

Nothing about the jewelry being designed and produced by the radical label Ghost is for the fashion conformist. Label founded by Agra and Yasmina Yessy in 2008, the idea behind Ghost was to make accessories that could be described as anything but soft and tender, experimenting with shapes and themes running through pyramids era, skulls and art deco to samurai warriors, Aztecs and Indian shamans.

Shower Curtain Convert?

> I have actual antipathy towards shower curtains, thankfully I have a shower door, but I just find them unhygienic and I dread the horrible moment when they stick to you, whilst having a shower. So bewilderingly enough what do I stumble upon..?  Designer Jane Bowler creating a new spin on rain-coats using re-cycled plastics including shower curtains. Jane uses outlandish indecorous items to inspire her to create innovative and desirable items.

Serious rain protection from this faux mo-hawk coloured glossy head piece, most likely to cause dancing in the rain.
Jane brings "longevity to materials, which come from a London post-use scrap facility, transforming plastics from old bath mats and shower curtains" into witty fashion pieces.
Innovative collection and concept, though it still wont ease my antipathy towards shower curtains an inch.

Protest via 4th Amendment Underwear

11 Jan 2011

Now there's a way to protest those intrusive TSA AIRPORT X-ray Body scanners without saying a word.

Before I begin, I'm not going to hide my stance on TSA body scanners! I have concerns that frequent exposure to TSA-operated scanner devices may carry health risks, such as exposure to radiation that may increase the risk of cancers and other health issues. Scanners have not been in operation long enough for an effective study to be performed.-

My second qualm is the invasive body scans, which certainly don't leave much to the imagination- raising further concerns relating to individual's right to privacy - one that has been increasingly threatened since terrorism became a more immediate problem in recent years. I realise striking the right balance between security and privacy, is a complex affair, though for me personally the balance has been tipped towards security. ~ Though I don't resent those who feel at ease travelling via TSA scanner devices.

4th AMENDMENT METALLIC INK-PRINTED UNDERGARMENTS

The Fourth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, meant to prevent unwarranted search and seizure, is readable on TSA body scanners.

The concept behind 4th Amendment Wear is simple: to get a few people to think a little more about their constitutional rights. The creators behind these 4th Amendment undergarments said-
"It all started when we removed our shoes to go through an X-ray scanner. What a great canvas the top of a pair of socks are - a place to make a statement about the hassles we have to go through to be safe. So printing the 4th amendment on them seemed like a nice way to make a statement - without being a pain in the ass to the already harrowed TSA employees. In fact, many of us approve of and willingly undergo the airport security protocols. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't question whether it's the very best solution."

ROUND DROPLETS OF FEMININE HARMONY

COINONIA, fashion label by Kiho Kim and Momoko Hashigami based in Milan, mix and integrate fresh feminine contemporary garments and accessories with experimental structural shapes. My highlight of this "Invasion" collection is the added round droplets, indulging a contemporary ladylike quirky twist to the garments.

Playing with the Volume & Strange Silhouettes
Lucian Broscăţean is a Romanian young designer endowed with talent, vision and a huge potential, I think he is one of the best young Romanian designers. Lucian explores unique areas of nomadism, playing with the volume, alternating textures and forming unusual silhouettes, consisting mostly of dark tones.

The collection above is called "Sky Mirror" with black inserts placed in rigid materials are designed to "break" forms. Along with the shaped hatwear. The source of inspiration sprung from, namely-how the city is reflected in the distorted huge sculptures created by Anish Kapoor.
