London Fashion Week AW 14 : Day 1-3

22 Feb 2014

Despite the wind and rain London looked particularly enchanting last week. Not only has it been London Fashion Week but also the BAFTAs and the Brit awards, meaning that there were a host of distinguished faces and stylish power dressing in town. My favorite actor Christian Bale was in town, who usually prefers to keep away from the limelight off the big screen. Fashion Week saw some of the most well known and respected British heritage brands take to the runway.
Vivienne Westwood
Vivienne Westwood’s models were wearing the signature tartan, coupled with short and wide top hats, cultivating in the past some of the more outlandish designs, this time the clothes projected privilege and adventure – an English Anna Karenina if you will – and a sprinkling of heritage alongside the urban punk of Westwood Red. Glamorous heavy fur coats, ladylike pencil suits and headscarves.. mixed within these pieces there were some wearable outfits, with court shoes and pearls that have had me eyeing those from Mesenso.com ever since. At the end of the show, Dame Vivienne graced the catwalk and took a bow – arm in arm with her granddaughter Cora Corre.

Preen
Going in a completely different direction were the London label Preen who summed up their current look as ‘Hot sci-fi geek.’ Having taken inspiration from 1970s pop culture, Storm Troopers could be found about the Preen dressing rooms and Darth Vader was printed across some of the models' chests. It's worth noting that Star Wars was the first film Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi ever saw at the cinema.

DAKS
A celebration of 120 years of Daks with a traditional British set up, which included Bear Skin, beefeater like hats!

I particularly liked the shoes with the pony hair element
Christopher Raeburn

With military fabric, there is a great abundance of things that never get used. For me, the excitement and the enjoyment come from reusing an original item and making something wearable. That’s what drives me. Christopher Raeburn
Holly Fulton + Markus Lupfer Jumpers

I like a good quirky sweatshirt jumper! With art deco motifs and Lupfer cafe.
Richard Nicoll

A cobalt blue bow-detail dress and knitted cape.

Fyodar + Nasir Mazhar

Mary Katrantzou

Ridonkulously oodles of craftsmanship went into this.
Charlie May

Crisp an clean wearable pieces, taking inspiration from the textured wilderness of Dartmoor in Devon, the windswept environment is reflected in the use of pony-skin and Mongolian furs.

London Fashion Week AW13 : Details Part 1

6 Mar 2013

London Fashion Week seemed like so looong ago, not helped by my tardiness, of creating Fashion Week posts. Enthusiasm for it can die down a tad quicker once it's over, with having access to live shows and social media at our fingertips. So hence I thought I'll focus on some of the bells and whistles on the runway. It's a good job Autumn + Winter is so long away. Here's part one for now.

Medley of accessories that caught my eye
○ Burberry Prorsum

A whole safari of animal prints and mixed media trenches, I beseech the opaque translucent rubber accents.
○ Louise Gray

The aptly named collection 'Hey Crazy', this was fearles statement recycling, the looks scream fun and quirky. One girl’s rubbish is another girl’s treasure.

1 Nov 2012

A well-overdue post, part 1, has been sitting in draft for far too long. Better late than never. Milan and Paris posts to come.
It's November can we turn the heat on now? Just pretend it's spring & summer like they do below!
○ Bora Aksu

Accessorizing the collection is Bora Aksu’s second collection of bags in collaboration with Bracher Emden. Laser etched baguette bags and laser cut clutches come in an array of vibrant colours and designs.
○ Markus Lupfer

I usually have a huge lust for Markus Lupfer garments, on my wish list every time! - Icy blues metallic's and nudes.
○ Charlie May
Clean feminine edgy wearable collection, with beautiful layering, my fave the tasty biker jacket. Teamed with Kat Maconie chunky gold detail statement shoes and ZanZan eyewear.
○ Maarten Van Der Horst
MVDHorst did not disappoint, rebel leading the Fashion East line-up making a dictum on throwaway fashion, printing Tesco shopping bag logos in plastic carrier materials, along with leopard and collage clash prints, as well as trenches trussed in Swarovski.

○ Sass & Bide

Origami folds and flowers with metallic adornments
○ Eudon Choi

○ house of holland

Grungey 90's girl glamour twists on the beanies, true to the forever young wrinkle.
○ Eley kishimoto

Shoes from the Eley Kishimoto x Clarks collab.
○ Christopher Raeburn

Holly Fulton

Holly Fulton’s woman is all-American and looking to the beaches of Mexico for her sun-bleached Summer sojourn. Taking a saccharine approach to life, the collection is a riot of bubblegum hues and floral optimism. With ’60s skateboarder Patti McGee as muse, the collection can be typified as laid-back and relaxed luxe.

{Runway} Diane von Furstenberg A/W 2012

21 Feb 2012

A women's handbag can be an Aladdins cave and a unintentional storehouse of memories of the past night week or year, the same could be applied to clutches for those evenings out. Diane got playful and kookified these clutches ranging from clocks to hearts to dominoes and for the all occasion's leather & fur. I can not deny their essential use for the evening you can be as flamboyant or subtle as you like.

Bora Aksu London Fashion Week SS 11

21 Sept 2010

CONTOUR OF ANT TRAILS

Insects are crawling everywhere, okay not everywhere, instead of marching across the counter tops, trails were left mostly on the leg wear, Ant hills and sugar trails, with a darker twist of the romantic vibe drapes and ruffles, adorning oversized messy buns. Tiny ants can carry 20 times their weight, and this collection can also certainly carry it's weight.

Romantically Bitten

Ants and corsets- I wouldn't be surprised Bora Aksu was inspired by ants on a warm summer's day. But I'm sure many would have reached for the ant powder instead.

Louise Goldin + David Koma + House of Holland Runway FW 10.11

22 Feb 2010

London Fashion Week is in full swing and what I always look forward to at L F W, is the energy and vibe from the young people of London, a mixture of eclectic and glamorous styles.

LOUISE GOLDIN
All these things set my toes a-tapping, the blend of military & Robot, the insanely gorgeous architectural shapes, and the palette and textures. the air of excitement could have come out of my very nose!
The architectural sculpted tailored coats in this collection are the most acapulco, but I wasn't able to share and post those photos for you, due to my Photoshop software seems to be playing up, maybe Photoshop, itself got dizzy seeing those images.....I don't know!?...but will post them sometime later on. For now you can have glance over at The Fashion Spot

DAVID KOMA FW 10
David Koma, a former MA graduate from Central Saint Martins presents, Futuristic form fitting leather dresses, with slicked back hair and nude lips and oodles of embellishment edgings.

Charlie Le Mindu S/S 10

24 Sept 2009

Hair.Lip.Locked
Adjure the zestful Charlie Le Mindu collection, admired the cray cray used through out the show, created by the French born hairdresser and wig maker Charlie Le Mindu.

Marios Schwab SS10

22 Sept 2009

Draping. Chiffon. Layering. Mixed Textures
I like Marios way of layering and usage of sheer material, mixing textures, colours, prints and silhouettes to create a poetic look.thought this collection was elegant and beautiful with a clear vision and precise execution.

The Alluring look was the earrings, it seems the metal wire is  wrapped around the ear, without inserting them in the ear lobes itself. One for the jewellery box.
