TOKYO//SHOP SCOUT
Tokyo is famous for its maze-like streets and tiny stores, with oodles of clandestine gems to discover. The following are some of my favorite street-minded fashion stores in Tokyo. I'm always pestering my friends from Tokyo, as to when they're paying a visit back to England- so I can put in an order of goodies I have my eye on. Though truthfully I'm always without a dime, when the opportunity arrives! All stores stock the latest new international designers on the arena.

Dazed & Confused JAPAN April 2011 Gold Digger by Anthony Maule

24 Mar 2011

Strikingly androgynous Andrej Pejic photographed by Anthony Maule and styled by Robbie Spencer
A gluttony of Gold and Vibrancy, plenty to take in, but in a goood way! cutting edge Avant-Garde surrealistic high style look - The dedication and extensive amount of work put in to this makes me smile, especially when it could be for some, another month another editorial. Credit to the prop work by Gary Card, and his fantastic team Penny Mills, Henderson Mccue, Luke Abby and Derek Martin. for what he calls  'letsseehowmuchstuffwecanattachtothispoormodel' project.

Antonio Murphy & Astro

The Tokyo-based design collective was started in 2002 by VERBAL and YOON. Inspired by the phrase "ANYTHING GOES", they draw ideas from the many creative outlets in Tokyo to produce original designs.

In 2004 they launch the jewelry brand, Antonio Murphy & Astro®. Using 18K gold, platinum, diamonds and other precious stones, they designed their own comical renditions of the mainstream Hip Hop jewelry popular at the time.

Masaya Nishimura

23 Mar 2011

My acrylic palate is fructified by the "Treasure Chest" modern concept, this collection bestows. Born in Kyoto, Masaya Nishimura went to study design at ESMOD Japan,  Masaya's concept is to create accessories which are bold yet elegant. His craft is in transforming acrylic pieces into luxurious-stone and gem-looking jewelries.

You maybe aware that Asian Fashion plays a elephantine part to why I'm drawn to the avant-garde, in particularly from the nation of Japan. I've always seeked to gain a stimulus from the Japanese mavericks.  I stand amid the countless of people whom have Japan currently close to there heart, hopes and tears. After hearing from some of my friends, thankfully it would seem Tokyo is regaining some lifeblood, as workers return from short leave of absence.

I was specifically looking forward to Japanese Fashion Week in Tokyo, which was scheduled to be held from March 18th, understandably it had to be canceled, the designers expressed their apologies for being unsure of when or how to even reschedule exhibitions. As a consequence, the designers will now be holding  sporadic exhibitions showcasing their collections. I'll try and share these with you over the next month.

~ ~So for now I decided to give salute to Japanese Fashion in my next few posts. ~~
