HANNAH MENZIES FIGURE SKATING SHOES

Hannah Menzies showcased a figure skating inspired collection at the graduate Westminster show, what really makes this collection remember-able were the white skates astutely fixed with a clear perspex wedge material so the models were able to walk in them. Made by a cast surrounding the ice skate blades with clear resin so they would look like they'd been cut out of ice. I would relish to get a pair of these skates on the high street!

The Elizabeth and James shades would probably be the safer bet out of the whole lot, having a small round face, can be difficult to find sunglasses for, I cant pull off the other funkdafied sunglasses, but sighs, I can appreciate the aesthetics of them from afar. Currently the weather here has gone back to dull and dreary dodging rain hour, so the only shades I currently own, have gone back to the drawer. For now the brollie is back in full use... mustn't complain though haha

SPEECH BUBBLE STATEMENTS
Chalk one up for this emerging young designer from Sydney, Blackboard Brooch, speech bubble brooches Make the statement you want to make, then rub it out and start again..... Mine should read SLACKER, since last week blog slackness crept in, I was swept up by the Roland Garros Tennis finale along with a BBQ blitz and Family Wedding. The brooches Available online at Oye Modern

CONGRATULATIONS RAFA
The nervousness was killing me this weekend, But I was absolutely elated for Rafael Nadal, who lifted his fifth Roland Garros title, after coming back from bad injury problems and enduring a tough year. He's a tennis player who I've followed closely over the last 6 years, and have had the pleasure of watching him play in the Monte Carlo Masters.  He's always been a class act on and off the court and I am so proud to be his fan - not just today but always.

DARCEL PAINTS THE TOWN RED
I think I've fallen for adorkable Darcel :) The ever charming and hopeful Darcel from the exciting blog Darcel Disappoints managed to charm his way in to toast the Opening of the Luxury Brand's New London Maison.
New Louis Vuitton maison at New Bond Street, same Old Darcel
Drink refills, art library and a Gilbert & George on the wall- I think I had this dream before
Multicolour Murakami Madness with 'kiki'
Battling the crowd, floating down the glass staircase

Behold, the Great Wall of luggage
One too many........ as always

The person behind Darcel is a New York based illustrator Craig Redman.Redman’s posts are personal diary entries of what he does in New York on a daily basis, and through his computer-generated illustrations, he puts his alter ego of Darcel through the paces of simple but unfortunate events, where it could only occur in Darcel's world.

MissDIOR Couture

FRIDAY FILLER COLLAGES

Elzna Stirna of MissDIOR Couture blog, continuously creates aesthetically alluring fashion collages, that simply I feel would compliment any fashion magazine out there. They always inspire me to create some of my own using Photoshop and whatnot, but then I call to mind how self destructive I can be with any Art or creative project that I undertake without a given deadline or monetary value. I wish I could utilise my mini novice easel, take it to the outdoors and sit at peace with a canvas, but I don't have the inner calm or the patience. Feel free to meander at MissDior Coutures blog to see the rest of her creative collages.

Delightedly it would seem no more dodging raindrops for this coming weekend, perfect moment for some Al Fresco dining, and to visit a heritage park for the Tudor Festival. Have a smashing contentfull weekend Everyone!

Giorgia Fonyodi

YOUNG HUNGARIAN TALENT
ADELUX DIPLOMA RELOADED

The Diploma Reloaded collection is a re-interpretation of GIORGIA FONYODI’s individual fabric manipulations.

It would seem as of late, the young designers of Hungary are continually popping up on my radar, with the likes of Dora Mojzes, the Used and Unused label, and forthwith Giorgia Fonyodi. I genuinely get animated when exploring new designers, they bring an all together fresh creative and a stirring hungry energy to there projects, whom I feel I can always matriculate from, although I always recognise the veterans of the industry and the longevity they are able to attain, nothing quite entices me like the smell of a new carpet i.e new designer. Giorgia Fonyodi has designed various collections, with a mixture of Haute Couture, visual forms of art and pieces for trendy every day wear or even for those wildest parities.

Her most fascinating component to her designs, which piqued my interest, is her attentiveness played in pursuing extensive research of making chronological parallels, comparisons and clashes of classical vs. modern, traditional vs. futuristic, elegant vs. extravagant styles, then analysing them in terms of systematic folding (pleating, smocking, tucking...) and observing special aspects aesthetic, artistic, social scientific, economic demands, changes, developments...thus creating re-interpretations of fabric manipulation.

Giorgia Fonyodi feels It’s speciality lies in the sewing technology ideas that change the look and feeling of fabrics, thereby endowing fabrics with additional content: the texture is modified, an ornamental or shaping function is added, ergo it is reinterpreted.

These methods are something quite alien to myself, since I never took textiles, however I have the feeling even if I did, Giorgia Fonyodi, is on a whole other amplitude.
