Baby Says Boutique + Busato + Tommy Ton

BABY SAYS BOUTIQUE
E shop, on-line boutiques, I evermore relish stumbling upon a dewy on-line store something bursting with independence, low reproductions and hence..... deflatedly my excitement turns down a notch or two, when viewing the price's, which is understandable seeing as they are mostly an independent business, but I am pretty much chuffed by the affordable prices for all on Baby Says Boutique, some dresses start as low as £10.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

For The Love of God" is the collection born inside of a school project based on the study of an ethnicity as opposed to a theme of breaking. And who is the Student who shares us with his collection? Lorenzo Busato a Fashion Designer from Italy, who's new SS 10 collection has been galvanized by the works of Damien Hirst. Lorenzo explains, The essential & symbolical graphics, the concept of death estranged from it's meaning of pain, the dissection of the elements, the obsessive specularity, frequently used themes by Hirst, personally revisted for the project, become modular patterns to be applied on the fabrics, become a mask that lifts off the identity before the fear of death, become monumental shapes for clothes, alike architectural works, strong, impressive, which do not seem to bow to the passing of time.

I particularly find the standing figure and clothes of sculptures & geometrical volumes, quite eerily daunting and captivating at the same time, I think especially due to the faces are masked away and the same identical stance taken in each photo. This collection is certainly a window to the fusion of fashion, art, history & architecture, and If you want to see more from Lorenzo, you can follow Lorenzo's blog & flikr and I hope this eerily figure does not appear in a nightmare one night!

New Generation Lamija Suljevic + Rachel Freire

12 Feb 2010

LAMIJA SULJEVIC
Lamija Suljevic latest collection of images landed in my inbox the other day, she's one of the most gifted new generation of designers in Sweden today, her images  immediately conjured up a cross between 1950's Indian film actresses adorned with traditional jewellery, and a Russian matroshka doll. Lamija is a Bosnian-born Swedish who may have been inspired by the Slavic tradition in her latest collection, as well as being inspired by her past and her passion for Parisian couture.

Each piece created by Lamija by an appointment in her studio in Stockholm are one off tasty pieces combining the intricate handy work of braiding, embroidery, pleating, and crochet.
If your in and around New York between 3-7 March dawdle off to the New York Art Scope Exhibition, where Lamija will be showcasing her tasty pieces.
The collection above calls to mind some of the classical Indian actresses shown below.

Rachel Freire

London based clothing designer, costumiere and art director Rachel Freire, her S/S 2010 collection fuses sky-high braided sci-fi mohawks future fondue. Her creative pieces are always edgy and photographed so well! Have a gander at her other creative pieces below.

New York Fashion Week Fall 2010

New York fashion week kicked off yesterday with BCBG Max Azria and L.A.M.B, under the unusual circumstances of the news of Alexander McQueen. I can imagine there being an peculiar subdued mood going around New York Fashion Week at the moment. But I'm sure the fashion industry will embrace the pain and burn it as fuel for a journey of creativity, for love is immortal.

Colour blocking was a big feature with blacks appearing next to the odd pastel. Maybe not the most exciting collection but a very wearable collection nonetheless.

Christian Siriano's new collection is the one I am looking forward to today.

Long Live McQueen

Death Leaves a Heartache No One Can Heal, Love Leaves a Memory No One Can Steal
I just couldn't make a post today without giving tribute to Lee Alexander McQueen. Any morsel thing related to Fashion Art Design, floods forward to my mind the tragic death of Lee and I'm sure its the same for many others.

In front of the store, fans yesterday started to pay their respect to Alexander McQueen
Lady Gaga remembered her friend and fashion icon Alexander McQueen on Friday by tweeting a photo of them in a happy embrace.

Gone Too Soon
With much sadness Alexander McQueen was found dead today at his London home after committing suicide. I’m shocked and saddened with the loss and because you never realize how big of a part fashion, designers, art, can be in life, and then thinking about how his nearest and dearest must be suffering right now, is further saddening, my prayers go out to his family and loved ones.
Your art and stunning visionary will be heartachingly missed - You'll Never Walk Alone................

Ring Horned Student Liberty

STUDENT LIBERTY MINIMALISM

My room is a agglomeration of mess!.... a mound of clothes thrusting against my wardrobe doors, I have never been one for neatly picking out an outfit the night before and having it ironed and neatly folded ready to be worn for the next day, the only time I have ever done this, was for my first day at high school! The most prep I have ever done since then is, is to subconsciously imagine a rough guide to what I could wear. the night before, The trouble is some of them items I imagine don't live in my wardrobe but are neatly hanging in some boutique or department store.
Anyhow these photo's taken by Gianni Mosella are called slug passion and the rooms have a curiously scrambled expressive charm to it, evidently this room is not spic and span, but has a ambience of liberty and filled with free spirited expression. My room looks nothing like this! when its a mess, it is simply a mess and nothing more! no expression of liberty just an expression of dishevelled disorder, sadly.

JENNIFER BEHR HEADBAND HORRIPILATION
Some of you may already be aware of Jennifer Behr's previous accessories collections,  her signature headbands have been worn + adorned plenty by Gossip Girl Blair Waldorf and her collection has a healthy dose of studs gems spikes and other tasty embellishments. Her bridal collection would on the nose add a touch glint and glamour to the day.
I unequivocally have botheration wearing headbands, as to plenty of the time, my hair lacks volume and planting a headband on top would just seem I've suppressed my hair to thin vermicelli, but I would still smack my lips together and snap up these hair couture chandeliers.
This 23-karat gold-plated silver ring set from Maison Martin Margiela will give all your urban looks an Acapulco gold directional twist. Wear them across your fingers for a nod to the avant-garde. Or hint hint to your other half, Feb 14th not long away!! To the price of £185 valentine pounds. mmmmh would have to skip the dinner + the chocolates + flowers.
