Kokeshi Matches

23 May 2012

Kokeshi ( Japanese Dolls ) + Matches = high levels of dainty pieces of adorableness, but I would be sad to set them alight. I could never strike that little panda face to light the match!! These matches may look child friendly but okay kids you can't be handling these. Frame them .. hang them on the walls .. or use them.

Ciaté introduces Caviar Manicure

27 Mar 2012

I remember my first experience with caviar was much like Tom Hanks in the movie Big, I was really appalled the first time I tasted it. Though I like to think of myself as quite adventurous when it comes to trying new foods and discovering a new favourite... so consequently caviar doesn't tickle my taste-buds but would Ciaté caviar tantalize my lips and nails!?  I'm sure they look stellar on the cover of a magazine shoot but gotta feeling those tiny beads are going to start shedding pretty fast .. but looks good fun.

There's a waiting list if you want to create these 3-dimensional nails at £18 a pop. Or you could try the same look for less D.I.Y alternative at thepolishaholic .

{Runway} Diane von Furstenberg A/W 2012

21 Feb 2012

A women's handbag can be an Aladdins cave and a unintentional storehouse of memories of the past night week or year, the same could be applied to clutches for those evenings out. Diane got playful and kookified these clutches ranging from clocks to hearts to dominoes and for the all occasion's leather & fur. I can not deny their essential use for the evening you can be as flamboyant or subtle as you like.

Unique Earrings

26 Sept 2011

As you may very well know by now, along with minimal classic concepts, I'm always drawn to kooky unique designs, now , alot of the time.. I can't pull off the kooky designs but I SURE like to give it a try! and that Unicorn earring makes me want to! If I was going for a more stronger look I would wear the screw earring, It really looks like a rustic screw nail.. but it ain't of course! Check out cartilage earrings from FreshTrends.

{RUNWAY} John Rocha Wire Headdress SS 12

21 Sept 2011

The focal point was these gravity defying structural HEAD PIECES ranging from gazelle like horns and mythical like warrior goddesses set off with tightly plaited hair and black white honey gold hues seaweed-like ruffles, raffia, crochet, feather textures on the A line dresses. Anastasiya Komarova - FORMS CLUTCHES

20 Sept 2011

My senses of touch have heightened immensely! by peering over these come-hither clutches. For a split second there, I wanted to take a bite out of that tablet of chocolate or run my fingers over them! but alas my craving moved onto the other strange seductive pieces from the collection. The leather looks melt-able into cubes, chains, spheres and crosses resulting in a perfect distinctive finish. If you remember playing with play-dough, you could simply imagine Anastasiya Komarova, molding squishing away with play dough in her toddler years. The Russian designer’s intricate and delicate way of working with these textures demonstrates her artistic craftsmanship. These delightful pieces make you want to grab a clutch and hold on to it until the cows come home.

{DIY} Spike Hair Comb

31 Aug 2011

August is almost over (sniff sniff) but not before I share this super DIY by the primo pair Erica and Lauren of  Honestly WTF. They have DIY’d Maison Michel’s metal spike comb, seen in Paris below. As for DIY's, this one looks completely do-able, even I couldn't possibly mess this up, Uh-oh, now I said it .. anti jinx potion needed, yes not a little superstitious.

You’ll need:
liquid super glue (not gel)

Start by adding a small amount of liquid super glue to one end of the comb. Place a metal spike on top of the glue and hold it in place for at least 30 seconds. Let it dry completely before letting go.

Glue another spike to the other end of the comb. Then, using a ruler, place the rest of the spikes along the length of the comb to make sure there is enough spacing between each spike.

Continue glueing each spike, alternating from one side to another.

Stick the spiked comb in a bed of teased and tousled hair!

Anglasad "SECOND LINE BRASS CAP" GR8 Exclusive

23 Jun 2011

Oh boyy! aren't these Military shaped hats by Anglasad, super!?  The motfit given for these hat's are influenced by New Orleans brass band. The term 'Second Line Beat' is a New Orleans expression.  New Orleans brass bands play happy, up beat music. The melodies and rhythms they played are so infectiously joyful that the street crowds, gather from everywhere.   [A history lesson I've just soaked up whilst writing this post ]
New Orleans Second-Lines and Jazz Funerals. These parades are called “second-lines’ because back in the day, the parades in New Orleans were separated in two halves – the whites up front, and the blacks in the back. Well, the real party was clearly in the back, and the negro musicians developed a unique beat that has been immortalized their position in those parades – to this day it is referred to as a ’second-line beat’ and all New Orleans funk is based upon it.  Source jamesoroc.com
Just goes to show, drooling over items can bring some acumen to the mind once in a while, and moreover these hats have a good fusion of music sense and fashion. They come in various tasty colors : Black, Gold  MetallicLight animal Red Paisley Blue Paisley .Silver Leopard Zebra Gold and Silver. Visit here for GR8 exclusive.
