Madrid Fashion Week - Spring Summer 2013

7 Sept 2012

I'm trying to refrain from my posts becoming clogged up with upcoming Fashion Weeks, I will make an effort to gradually update on the beguiling runway collections. For now here is a mini round-up of Madrid Fashion week Spring/Summer 2013. I'm still very reluctant to say adiós to Summer and welcome Autumn, but here I can pine over and keep myself peppy in my summer-tide bubble - a tiny tad longer!
María Escoté

Upon viewing the first sequence of the 'Sweet Cannibal Cannibal' collection, you could be espying through a hammock mosquito mesh in the middle of the Amazon. Eyes peering out to jungle prints, foliage, angry monkeys tropical flowers, felines and birds. The collection exhibits glam biker jackets shorts and vests. Thereupon lands in a new sequence of pastel shades, skater skirts and sparkly mini dresses and maxi dress bandeau's and bustier's. Thus creating alittle something for everyone, call it the sweet cannibal buffet  - my general favourite collection.
Teresa Helbig
The designs are inspired by the gardens of Versailles of André Le Nôtre in France, the locations sounds beatitude, the lima green boots look enticing with the feminine romantic skirts with volume, punctuated with hints of fuscia and green.
Jesús del Pozo
The venue where this collection took place looks beautiful in an unique open setting, at the Parques del Capricho in Madrid. The pieces would certainly compliment a fine summers evening, adding sophistication and feminine chic.

Made it to another Friday. Have a great weekend EVERYBODY!

G-Dragon One Of A Kind MV : Versatile Style Guises

31 Aug 2012

I usually don't pander to the mahatmas of the fashion music or film heavyweights on here, unless I'm really compelled to! (it's not for disliking them, but I guess I feel I don't want to regurgitate popular culture infinitely) I do make an exception for G-Dragon, maybe because some of the folks in the west are not yet acquainted with him, or maybe I just need any excuse, since I'm an aficionado of South Korean bands 'Big Bang' & 2NE1.

G-Dragon dons many various style guises in this MV, a certified style chameleon, who's not afraid to experiment. Most of the attire are from the menswear collections, as well a few pieces from the womens-wear collection, inspiring men and women alike all over the globe.  ― Have a good weekend !

{ Editorial } Interview Magazine Hanging Tough August 2012

30 Aug 2012

I've not shared an editorial on here for yonks! so it is apt that this editorial exhibits plenty of crossbody bags adorned around the nape as statement pieces, because I've been on the search for an additional crossbody bag  besides the Valentino crossbag I acquired from Italy at a decent discount, though since last week I have misplaced it eek! fingers crossed it's at home somewhere.

MV Playlist ○ G-DRAGON ○ LUPE FIASCO ○ PSY

○ G-DRAGON One Of A Kind

Singer songwriter producer G-Dragon combines de novo style, charisma, showmanship, and the ability to mark the essence of his prowess as a performer in this much anticipated music video. The “ helloooo “ is echoing in my head. This Korean Hip-Hop track is just the intro to G-Dragon's latest new album, propelling a flurry to what more could be in store.
○ lupe fiasco

I have to profess I am a super LAZY lyric listener, usually the beat and melody grabs my attention first, yet I'm swayed to listen to Lupe's lyrics as he spits something meaningful over pop-esque, BUT I've never got round to having a good proper listen! The above track " Battle Scars " has a sumptuous shout-a-long chorus by Guy Sebastian creating a terrific ear-worm.

Lupe Fiasco’s intention was to start a dialogue with this conscious track , the conversation about girls self identifying as “bad bitches”.  I really appreciate this song, a vivid story teller and It doesn’t get much simpler than the chorus.

How do you feel about the term "a Bad Bitch?" Everyone has their own definition when it comes to the word “BITCH” I know it can also be used as a term of endearment between women as in “That’s My BITCH.” Can women use and reclaim the word “bitch” or “bad bitch” as an empowerment tool ?
○ PSY Gangnam Style

PSY has entertained the masses in Korea for over a decade, I've heard his live concerts are boss! Glad to see this MV has gone viral and the invisible horse dance is just PSY all over.

Weather woes and underclothes

25 Aug 2012

I hear this statistic often, it is likely you have too !?

an astounding 80 per cent of women could still be wearing the wrong bra!

you can probably count this hyena into that statistic! Thus leading to back ache, posture problems and unflattering style. Even so-called "professionals" have routinely put me in horribly fitted bra's, there is the added hassle of variations between brand sizes to consider too. Uncomfortable underwear is particularly troublesome during the unpredictable British summer, which is wreaking havoc on our wardrobes. I try and not let the dreary days drown my style - finding a flattering bra to suit every occasion come rain or shine.

Brassiere

There was a collective sigh of relief among women in 1907 when Paul Poiret, a French fashion designer, allowed women to swap the painful corset for dresses that worked with women’s natural body shapes. The modern bra emerged from the development of cup size standardisation in the 1920s. Fortunately, though, underwear design has come a long way since the restrictive styles of the early 20th century. These days, attractive lingerie enhances the natural shape of our bodies with soft, sheer fabrics that provide support and flexibility in the right places.

Elomi Smoothing Strapless Bra

When that elusive sun comes out, you usually want to expose as much skin as possible to top up the tan and collect that valuable vitamin D. Strapless bras are my must-have for warmer weather, allowing you to go bare-shouldered with light summer dresses or tops. Bras like the Elomi Smoothing Strapless Bra combine detachable straps with special gripper elastic for increased support and uplift.

Bras like this are held in place by the band rather than the straps, so make sure this is tight enough to support your chest whilst still allowing you to breathe! If you can get just two fingers beneath the band, the bra is probably the right fit. It is important to find bras that fit, but also we feel comfortable and beautiful in, we should never stop experimenting with various bras or bras sizes since our bodies are always evolving.

Even when it’s raining, the British summer can still be really hot and humid - especially when you’re cooped up indoors. Yet often the lightweight layer of a top that keeps you cool will show the clunky mechanics of a bulky bra underneath. I try and avoid unsightly shapes by going for a seamless bra – they can help achieve a flattering silhouette under even the finest fabrics.

Suntantoos - temporary suntan tattoo

21 Aug 2012

I am some what, a creature of change with style clothes and hair, this is why I made a conscious decision to not have a tattoo as I know after a while I would begin to dislike it or become indifferent to it, which would really be hellacious since tattoos are pretty permanent. I enjoy using henna tattoos for an occasion but have never come across a suntan tattoo before, up until now.

SunTanToos are temporary tantoos you get while tanning at the beach. But these are no ordinary "tanning bed" stickers, but large, custom tantoos you can design.

London-based artist-designer Dariusz Boron recently put up a funding campaign on Indiegogo for SunTanToos. Offering printed body decorations in the nature of decalcomania; paper patches to block the sun and create patterns on the skin, creating the look like the above. Would you try a Suntantoo ?

3 Dimensional Earrings

16 Aug 2012

Studs, hoops, cuff, dangly drop ones, chandelier ones, spiky ones ... I delight in donning everything from minimalistic earrings to costume earrings, it all depends on the mood and look. I usually opt for smaller earrings as I have a smallish face. I can't always pull off the kooky unusual designs but I SURE like to give it a try!

From the whirligig of time, I set eyes on three dimensional earrings (ear tunnels) like the ones below, I indisputably wanted to get my paws on them, alas I could only purchase them from Asia via the delectable e shops, I coveted them in my 'Unique earrings' post awhile back, hoping they would crossover to here, to which they have done!

Shoprowky was where I saw the 3D earring concept and Asos & Topshop etc were and are providing adorkable 3D earrings. I'm positive we'll see more concepts of the 3D earring catering for the badassical variety too. You can also show your wild side with belly rings for the beach this summer

PICK A JEWEL

Wearing what you love, wearing what makes you happy at each moment -- as if a girl, living in a small beach island, picks up a flower from a garden and utilizing it as a hair accessory.
pick a jewel was born to incorporate this natural deed of happiness, hidden in our daily life, to your lifestyle.
Let's find the one, made by you, and just made for you.

You could create your very own 3D earring of some sort with pick a jewel, clipping whatever suits your fancy. For those clever DIY folks, you could probably make and design your own ear tunnels.

Summer nights film festival

14 Aug 2012

Have you been to any outdoor film festivals and concerts this summer ? Summer has just been passing me by, jam packed sport events have kept me rooted to my seat -: Euro's football, Wimbledon, Olympic games and the appalling British summer weather, has hindered any sort of alfresco dining and entertainment.

Last Friday my sisters and I gathered a picnic hamper, a few nibbles, a cider or two, blankets and camping chairs and off we went to the summer night film screening at Calke Abbey country estate, as luck would have it, it didn't rain! the film 'the woman in black' commenced as soon as the light had faded sufficiently, the parkland under the stars looked a visual treat.

My best outdoor experiences have not always been related to the food I've eaten, usually the location and company are the most important things, but great food obviously makes the experience better. What fun cultural things have you been squeezing in this summer?

Wouldn't you love to create something like the above in your very own backyard!?
