{DIY} Spike Hair Comb

31 Aug 2011

August is almost over (sniff sniff) but not before I share this super DIY by the primo pair Erica and Lauren of  Honestly WTF. They have DIY’d Maison Michel’s metal spike comb, seen in Paris below. As for DIY's, this one looks completely do-able, even I couldn't possibly mess this up, Uh-oh, now I said it .. anti jinx potion needed, yes not a little superstitious.

You’ll need:
liquid super glue (not gel)

Start by adding a small amount of liquid super glue to one end of the comb. Place a metal spike on top of the glue and hold it in place for at least 30 seconds. Let it dry completely before letting go.

Glue another spike to the other end of the comb. Then, using a ruler, place the rest of the spikes along the length of the comb to make sure there is enough spacing between each spike.

Continue glueing each spike, alternating from one side to another.

Stick the spiked comb in a bed of teased and tousled hair!

Do you hate the word Fashion?

26 Aug 2011

Sometimes I feel the word 'FASHION' is made-up of a flammable orb, that ignites our world's diva complex. I never feel comfortable describing this blog.. as a fashion blog, the word itself seems to resonate negative associations, conjuring up images of the fickle nature of celebrity culture, materialistic snootish air, bullshit media correspondents. But I profess, the description of this blog is not important, Why? because it really doesn't matter in the large scheme of things, I shouldn't have a problem with the word 'FASHION' but with it's associations that comes along with the word.

It doesn't help when I see fashion slang used as the ones in the illustration below, I have to develop a more thicker skin but I will always dislike with a passion 'worst dressed' 'hot or not' and articles of what not to wear, I will never understand conformism, I please myself to wear whatever I want,  but I'm not one for dismissing something for being popular either. Thus I'm gonna end this friday's post with a smile that is a curve that sets everything straight. { forgive me for that usage, I only heard it today :-)

Can you think of anymore undermining fashion lingo?

The collar rebellion is in full flow, lock and detach it! so many to choose from, glad to see that some of the collars are now affordable, to boot they look D.I.Y friendly, So turn your collar up to some sinfulness and fudge the lines between the crimes.. without the bulk of a fixed shirt.

DANNIJO COLLAR NECKLACES
Best bib and tucker, Dannijo accessories is point blank acapulco gold, scamper to check out the collection here, I think they're priced very well too, bearing they're not priced for the high street but just a tad above that market, something I could afford to buy sparingly. Adjoa Osei: Adapt Capsule Collection

19 Aug 2011

Venture into the heart of sub-Saharan Africa? at first glance it heralds the ambiance of west African folklore which verges into the signature woven fabric, though as folklore's go, this collection also conveys timeless and classical elements. London budding designer, Adjoa Osei describes it as 'Experimentally Classic', enhancing everyday wearable pieces for women, with an array of hand finished jersey vests, loose fitting tops and bright maxi skirts all emboldened with well placed accents of alluring color and print.

To view the capsule collection Adapt please visit http://www.adjoaosei.com/#/collection/1/

Adapt: Reshaping the way we view and wear prints. Adapt is an eight piece, limited edition capsule collection with hand woven detail. The focus of Adapt is clean lines and classic shapes with injections of print, colour and detail. As a prelude to the winter collection, Adapt explores the different ways that smart/casual wear can be enhanced by African print. Gone are the days when prints were sporadically featured in 'safari' inspired collections or dusted off for cultural celebrations. Prints defy seasonal trends, and can be dressed up or pared down. The options are infinite. Season by season, trend by trend, I invite you to join me in this creative dialogue. Adjoa Osei

Anastasia of Beverly Hills Review: Coming Soon

18 Aug 2011

I've been approached to undertake a product review for Anastasia of Beverly Hills, who are long standing definitive eye and brow expert for icons such as Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Oprah as well as up-and-comers like Diana Agron, Selena Gomez and Kristen Cavalari.

My first thought was crikey! this is to a lady who is guilty of neglecting her eyebrows and delaying visits to her beauty therapist and encore. Should I or shouldn't I? You all know what my answer was right.. since I'm writing this post.. so why did I say yes? My rationale being, I wanted to review this product since it's high time I gave more of my personal thoughts back to my readers, but additionally, It's an opportunity to declare I'm a parabens free advocate, free from deadly chemicals and preservative.

Over the years, it's become a big NO-NO from me, in terms of using cosmetics that contain harmful chemicals, health foods and house hold products, we're routinely exposed to such things daily, so it's positive to hear Anastasia Beverly Hills have expanded into skincare based cosmetics, I can't wait to put it to the test! After-all cosmetics should help make your skin look and feel and be healthy! So watch this space for an upcoming review.
Read labels and become an empowered shopper! :-)

Lara, Mariacarla, Kristen, Nyasha and Daphne by Mert & Marcus for LOVE 6

1 Aug 2011

Religious iconography and striking head gear styled by Katie Grand and Panos Yiapanis, featuring models Lara Stone, Mariacarla Boscono, Kristen McMenamy, Nyasha Matonhodze and Daphne Groeneveld. The first photo of the zipped trail soused head-wear is glorious. I would be delighted if anyone could attempt to create a D.I.Y version of that. It's becoming more self-evident, that I really could have done with learning some practical sewing skills. Photography: Mert & Marcus

Kermit Tesoro Pony Skull

The name 'Kermit' keeps popping up on my tiny watchtower - but it's not of the friendly frog muppet kind! More so a Filipino fashion designer & artist named - Kermit Tesoro, whom in fillipino language could be described as a little 'Krung Krung' with his visionary designs and inspiration. The aesthetics exhibited from his works reflect's a championing of technology and unconventional materials and inclinations towards art science religion and childhood fascinations. These shoes have smack-dab evoked my attraction to pony hair. I highly recommend that you check out his other latest FW 11 clothing collection here .

Coinciding facts I came across whilst writing this post

 - 1. Kermit, a given name of Irish origin meaning "without envy or jealousy".
-  2. The term  'Krung Krung' pertains to crazy, eccentric, uber quirky.

{Video} • Skateboarding comes to India • 2NE1 Music Video

14 Jul 2011

This enchanting cinematography makes for palpable viewing, would you have thought? a sport like skateboarding could bring so much intrigue fascination and joy, coupled with the local vibe and organic scenery. Captured by Guilhem Machenaud,  "A true meeting between skateboard and people, in a simply incredible country." - Oxelo

I never got round to sharing the music video of 2NE1's latest single 'I am the best' whom are seen donning all various Avant-Garde and magnetizing delights, covered in here. 'Bam Ratatata Tatatatata' is the most euphonic part of the track. ~  I've just realised I've made a boo boo because I thought it was Friday!!  'A Thursday hopscotching' it is then.

This installment of LINK LOVE is sent Singapore's way - Why? because all three web-shops are based in Singapore and ship internationally. I immediately added these web stores to my bookmark way back and I wanted to now share them with YOU. I use to wish, I lived in the same geographical locations where all the new snappy stores were, but now it matter's to a less degree as the shipping costs are super cheapo.  Oneway or another the grass always seems greener.

This online boutique leans to the edgy stylish up-to-the-minute items that are influenced by music and the underground scene of subcultures. I mostly delight in the jewellery that's available on here chains crucifixes skulls beads metal and rocks, and check it out for yourself there super priced in Singapore dollars in turn making it most worthwhile in sterling pound. I still haven't got round to bombarding this shop when payday arrives.

THIS IS TRANSITION

The name of the store is rubbish, but that's okay as the word seems to be cheekily reclaimed here!   Contemporary chic feminine fashion wear and high end inspired items, are reflected in some of the apparel, footwear and handbags. Always worth visiting to see it's latest updates to pre-order before they run out!
Fit's the bill for the average young adult's income and style, offer's a fashion forward varied range that allows customers to find their own personal style, at the right price. This is a potential treasure trove, indulge in the idea of finding bags, accessories and footwear to complete your look. You have to snap up the items fast to avoid disappointment,

MUSIC VIDEO SNAPSHOTS: I AM THE BEST PART 1
2NE1 are the life-force of Korean music and fashion, it is unceasingly perceptible through-out there music video's, live performances, magazine shoots and off stage. Of note, they additionally exert a down-to-earth charismatic charm, witnessed during there show called 2NE1TV, which notably films the album collaboration between 2NE1 and Will.i.am, [International album release anticipated 2012] and the special rapport with Jeremy Scott.

The newly released MV called ' I am the best' portrays 2NE1 in diverse styles, they're no strangers to wearing luxury fashion houses, the girls exhibit the Gareth Pugh Spring 2011 RTW collection, whilst sauntering away to their track song. It's actually quite refreshing to see such runway items being seen in all it's movement and glory besides the catwalks and red carpet.

PUNK ROCK STYLE: METAL PLATES. STUDS. SPIKES

My best loved element to the MV is the full on Punk Rock slash Anime dizen. Jackets seen are custom made by label DOG Harajuku. For those of you who know me, I revere every single stud spikes and metal plates, reworked piece by piece in this MV, it's like a Utopia feeding my fixations. The girls of 2NE1 are the uber chameleons whom permutate with every clothing style, from playful to effeminate, seductive to fierce and strong.

Stoyn Sculpture Ice Cream Heads

27 Jun 2011

Alas yesterday and today I've been melting like a Ice Cream in the heat, finally some good weather has arrived, so it's fitting to have stumbled across these delicious looking sculpting iconic figures of Ice Cream heads, with the exemplers of Darth Vader, Ernesto Che Guevara,  Vladimir Mayakovsky, Donald Duck, Marilyn Monroe, Mickey Mouse and Mario. ~ I'm actually quite fond of the cardboard cutout Popsicle heads too, a super way of marketing the Ice Cream by Stoyn the Russian advertising agency.

Moreover I'm glad to hear they have organic flavors such as Cranberry with vodka (Mayakovsky), blueberry with licorice (Darth Vader) and mate with rum (Che Guevara) it's quite creative and intelligent that these flavors have been picked out to match with each figure head's personality. ~ I hope they never melt they look far too good!  Photo's via Beautiful Life

Anglasad "SECOND LINE BRASS CAP" GR8 Exclusive

23 Jun 2011

Oh boyy! aren't these Military shaped hats by Anglasad, super!?  The motfit given for these hat's are influenced by New Orleans brass band. The term 'Second Line Beat' is a New Orleans expression.  New Orleans brass bands play happy, up beat music. The melodies and rhythms they played are so infectiously joyful that the street crowds, gather from everywhere.   [A history lesson I've just soaked up whilst writing this post ]
New Orleans Second-Lines and Jazz Funerals. These parades are called “second-lines’ because back in the day, the parades in New Orleans were separated in two halves – the whites up front, and the blacks in the back. Well, the real party was clearly in the back, and the negro musicians developed a unique beat that has been immortalized their position in those parades – to this day it is referred to as a ’second-line beat’ and all New Orleans funk is based upon it.  Source jamesoroc.com
Just goes to show, drooling over items can bring some acumen to the mind once in a while, and moreover these hats have a good fusion of music sense and fashion. They come in various tasty colors : Black, Gold  MetallicLight animal Red Paisley Blue Paisley .Silver Leopard Zebra Gold and Silver. Visit here for GR8 exclusive.
